Russia to Expand by Million Sq Kilometers
ロシア百万平方キロ拡大

On the very bottom of the Arctic Ocean, near the Lomonosov Mountain Ridge, the scientists of Russia have collected proofs justifying extension of the country’s continental shelf, Murmansky Vestnik reported with reference to Murmansk Ocean Company.

The collected information shows that the area of Russia’s ocean shelf exceeds the previous estimate by 1.2 million sq kilometers. But under the international agreements, Russia enjoys the exclusive right of conducting economic activity in the whole territory of the shelf, including outside the standard zone of 200 miles.
収集された情報は、ロシアの海洋大陸棚は以前の推計に比べて120万平方キロメートル広いということを示している。しかし、国際協定によって、ロシアは通常の２００海里を越えて大陸棚全体において独占的経済活動の権利を享受している。

From there, the scientists say, it is possible to produce 9 billion tons to 10 billion tons of equivalent fuel.

It was Rossia Atomic Icebreaker with Mi-8MTV helicopters on board that explored the ocean’s bottom during an expedition of 45 days. The vessel was berthed in the Murmansk port Monday.
原子力砕氷船Rossiaと艦載するMi-8MTVヘリコプターが45日間の探検期間中に、海底の探索を行った。砕氷船は、月曜日にMurmansk港に戻った。

In the East Siberian Sea, the exhibition arranged a drifting ice station for nine persons, held deep sounding of 700 kilometers, measured gravity 50 times, held airborne geographical survey of 15,000 line kilometers from Il-18 aircraft and made photo-teleprofiling and sub-bottom profiling.
東シベリア海で、９人用の流氷基地が用意され、深海音波探索を700kmに渡って行い、重力を50回測定し、Il-18型飛行機による地形調査を15,000ｋｍに渡って行い、画像による遠隔プロファイリングと海底面プロファイリングが行われた。
